Day Of Schedule
All times are listed in Pacific Time. Schedule is subject to change!
9:30-11AM: MT Dance Call & Group Feedback (optional for Acting-only students, who can arrive at 11am if they wish!)
Almost every MT program will require students to participate in a dance call and Actors are often asked to complete Movement and Cold Reading portions. We will run students through a typical dance/movement call that they can expect at most schools.
Attire: All students should come dressed to move comfortably. You will have time to change into your audition outfit.
11-11:15AM: Break for MTs/Change to Audition Outfit
11:15AM-12:30PM: Mock Auditions + Interviews [Round 1]
These will be run like a real college audition. Students will present material and will participate in a standard interview with the panel of coaches. Each student will practice taking adjustments and answering interview questions in their audition, then receive feedback from every coach (and piano accompanist) on our panel. Following the feedback portion, students will be given the chance to present an additional piece or repeat one of their original pieces in a second round “mini mock audition”. These are conducted in a group master class format.
Musical Theatre Major Requirements: Students will present two contrasting 32 Bars and a Contemporary Monologue, with the option to present an additional piece in the second round
Acting Major Requirements: Students will present two contrasting monologues (either two contemporaries, or a contemporary and classical), with the option to present an additional piece in the second round
12:30-1:15PM: Individual Feedback Time
1:30-2PM: Lunch Break
2-3:15PM: Mock Auditions + Interviews [Round 2]
3:15-3:30PM: Break

4-5PM: Student & Parent Info Session and Q&A
We will end with a presentation and Q&A session with MCA Director & Consultant Gigi Watson! Parents encouraged to join!

Your questions!
Why participate in an MCA Mock Audition Day?
Mock Auditions are an essential part of College Audition Preparation. There’s no Opening Night without a Dress Rehearsal, so before you step foot into your first exciting audition, you’ll need to put your prep to the test. Dressed in your college audition outfit, you’ll experience what it’s like to participate in a dance call (MT’s only), perform your audition repertoire for a panel of auditors, tackle artistic adjustments, and practice answering interview questions. You’ll complete TWO rounds of Mock Auditions, and will leave with personalized notes + feedback that will elevate your audition technique, help you stand out from the crowd, + ensure you make the most of each audition.
